Gotta Love Rednecks
Crazy inbred rednecks are a staple of horror movies, mostly as villains, so when they happen to be the good guys, it always leads to a hilarious result.
Eight Legged Freaks
This is the movie that made me want to write this list; when I mention it, very few people have seen or even heard about it. It’s an absolutely hilarious ride in which giant mutant spiders invade a town in the middle of nowhere, it’s such a fun movie; I cannot recommend it enough.
Tucker & Dale vs. Evil
In many ways this movie will subvert your expectations; it’s really a comedy at its core but the over the top gore and horror elements make it standout from horror movies and these two loveable rednecks and the misunderstandings are a treasure trove of laughter.
Beyond Till Death Do Us Part
Horror movies embody the concept of death being just a part of life, when the death of a partner is only another step in a relationship, laughter is replacing the tears.
Burying The Ex
I do have a soft spot for Joe Dante’s films and this one is like all the other ones, very funny and lots of love has been poured into this comedy in which this love triangle is very uncommon; it almost reminded me of the 1992 movie, Death Becomes Her.
The Frighteners
Peter Jackson’s last movie before embarking into The Lord of the Rings saga. It’s quite lighthearted and features Michael J. Fox surrounded by both friendly and spooky ghosts. It’s a cute and fun horror-comedy.
No Matter If You’re A Boy Or A Girl, Highschool Sucks
It’s impossible to make a list of scary movies that doesn’t feature teenagers with raging hormones; the difference in comedies and other horror genres, is that teenagers are never used as victims.
Jennifer’s Body
Diablo Cody’s first big movie features Amanda Seyfried and Megan Fox in their prime. While not groundbreaking, this is one of the first few movies who took the sexuality leading to doom cliche of horror movies to the next level; add teenage jealousy to it and you have a solid highschool movie.
Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse
Only in horror comedies you will see dorks saving the day. I absolutely love this movie; it’s a weird coming of age tale and an awesome highschool flick. It’s also my favorite scout movie ever.
When That Voice Telling You What To Do Is Not In Your Head
When the cat or the little girl next door are the ones suggesting to do horrific acts instead of the voices in your head, you’re not crazy, right?
The Voices
This movie is hilarious. I don’t want to spoil to much but Ryan Reynold is as charming as ever and his interactions with his dog and especially his evil cat are easily the best part of this flick.
Pyscho Goreman
The premise of this movie is ludicrous; however, the relationship between the space monster and the little girl is working so well that it’s hard not to laugh and want more of it.
When Alien Invasions Go Horribly Wrong
One of the most fun predicament in a horror comedy is that no matter where and how aliens decide to invade, it’s always the wrong place.
Slither
Too few people knew James Gunn before Guardians of the Galaxy but Slither is a weird and gross yet funny horror movies that are so emblematic of his style. You’ll see lot of familiar faces in this film and it never takes itself too seriously.
Attack The Block
A gem from across the pond! The breakout role for John Boyega, this movie chronicles the adventures of a group of teenage hoodlums protecting their London social housing block from an alien invasion.
